Introduction
Secondary conveyor belt cleaners are critical components in belt conveyor systems, designed to remove fine residual material that remains on the belt after the primary cleaner has done its job. They are typically installed just downstream of the primary cleaner, near the head pulley, to ensure the belt is as clean as possible before it returns on the underside (return side) of the conveyor. Design
Scraper Design
The scraper is the core component of the cleaner and directly contacts the conveyor belt for cleaning. Its shape is usually designed according to the shape of the conveyor belt and the residual material. For example, the common straight scraper is suitable for general materials, while for sticky materials, a scraper with arc or serration can be used to enhance the cleaning effect. The material of the scraper is mostly wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant and flexible materials, such as polyurethane. Polyurethane scrapers can not only effectively scrape off materials, but also reduce wear on the conveyor belt, while maintaining good performance under different working conditions.
Cleaning Brush Design
The cleaning brush can assist the scraper for deep cleaning, especially for removing fine particles. The bristles are usually made of nylon or steel wire. Nylon bristles are soft and suitable for situations where the conveyor belt surface is more sensitive; steel wire bristles have stronger cleaning power and are suitable for stubborn stains. The diameter, length and bristle density of the cleaning brush need to be adjusted according to the width of the conveyor belt and the characteristics of the material to ensure that the bristles can fully cover the surface of the conveyor belt and effectively clean it.
